Dr Claire Ellis, Research Associate and Ecotourism Advisor.

Claire has worked for over 35 years in conservation and tourism, as an operator, researcher, academic, in Government, and consulting, to develop sustainable long-term outcomes for businesses, communities and wider regions. She lived in Asia for around 14 years and her work has principally been in Asia and Australia. Claire is currently Deputy Chair of Ecotourism Australia, an inaugural Board member of Australian Wildlife Journeys (one of Tourism Australia’s ‘Best of’ industry partnerships), and a Board member of Natural Resource Management Southern Tasmania and Volunteering Tasmania as well as being an active member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Claire is also an Associate Researcher with University of Tasmania where she did her PhD in environmental research and volunteer tourism and her earlier studies, a Bachelor of Economics and Diploma of Education.
